Freak the Mighty-Shared Writes

While reading Freak the Mighty, we completed 5 assignments to demonstrate our understanding of the text.  We did this first as a class, then in small groups, and finally independently. Students were able to choose 4 of same assignments to demonstrate their understanding of their literature circle books.
Below are photos of our shared writes to reference  should students require support while completing their assignments at home:

Students should also have copies of each of these exemplars in their reading journals.

We love to read!

After finishing Freak the Mighty, the kiddos were SO excited to start reading their literature circle books. The titles include Wonder, Schooled, Firegirl, Ugly, Crash, Rules and Max the Mighty.

Each student must read one book (that they chose) by the end of the four week block.  They must also complete 4 assignments and meet with their group daily to chat about what they are reading. Here's the fun part...although they are only required to read one book, they also have the option of reading all the books!  The more books you read, the more groups you get to join!
Two of the assignments are due tomorrow for both 6F4 and 6F5.  They will have a class to work on the assignments, but depending on their progress, they may choose to work on them this evening.

Drumroll please...

May I present...our published piece!

Throughout the shared writing process of our class paragraph, students have been diligently working on their own paragraphs.
Stay tuned to see some of their fantastic writing!

Rough draft, revising and editing..oh my!

We have been working diligently on our descriptive-ish paragraph in French and have finally arrived at the publishing part of our writing process.
Below is a picture of the rough draft of the paragraph that we wrote as a class. We spent a lot of time revising our writing for "juicy" words and edited our grammatical errors with a focus on gender agreements between a noun and an adjective
